OverviewTOWARDS A SAFER TOMORROW Is today’s world secure and are we moving towards a safer tomorrow? Currently we are living in a world where terrorist activities and related wars are taking place with an impact on Global Peace and Harmony. Gang culture and criminal activities are rife in many countries that destroy lives through drug and people smuggling, the latter has only recently developed into another profitable area for crime syndicates. The Arab Spring which recently started in Libya and quickly spread to other Arab countries has created security and freedom for many, but for others it has created an environment where gangs can commit criminal and terrorist acts with impunity. Governments are now battling against these new terrorist groups and it is therefore important in the light of these new developments that we understand the threats they we are currently facing and how best to counter them. With this as a background the organisers of GSA 2013 will bring together leading experts and specialists in the field of Counter Terrorism, Internal State Security and Civil Defence who will present Papers addressing some of the challenges and threats that the Asia Pacific region currently face. The Conference programme will be of particular interest and relevance to Security professionals focussing on both the variety and sophistication of the latest threats. Papers will highlight the state-of-the-art technologies and services currently available to counter these threats many of which will be showcased in the Exhibition that will run concurrently with the 3-day Conference.
